{{Short description|Roman god of thorns}}
In [[Roman mythology]], '''Spiniensis''' was the god of [[Thorns, spines, and prickles|thorns]]. People prayed to him when they removed thorny plants from their fields as he presided over the digging out of thorn bushes and guarded the field against thorns. His name comes from ''spina'' ("spine/thorn").<ref>Ferguson, J. (1988). "Divinities" (p. 835). In M. Grant & R. Kitzinger (eds.), ''Civilization of the Ancient Mediterranean. Greece and Rome. Volume II'' (pp. 847–860). New York: Charles Scribner's Sons.</ref>
