==Geography==
Milan Township is in the northwest corner of Monroe County, bordered by [[Lenawee County, Michigan|Lenawee County]] to the west and partially by [[Washtenaw County, Michigan|Washtenaw County]] to the north. The city of Milan also borders the township to the north.

According to the [[U.S. Census Bureau]], the township has a total area of {{convert|34.0|sqmi|km2|2}}, of which {{convert|0.02|sqmi|km2|2}}, or 0.05%, are water.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2023"/>

As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 1,670 people, 610 households, and 489 families residing in the township.  The population density was {{convert|47.6|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  There were 632 housing units at an average density of {{convert|18.0|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  The racial makeup of the township was 98.20% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.36% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.36% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.06% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.36% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.66% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.74% of the population.

There were 610 households, out of which 32.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.5% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 6.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.7% were non-families. 16.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.  The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size was 3.08.

In the township the population was spread out, with 25.0% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 32.0% from 25 to 44, 25.6% from 45 to 64, and 11.6% who were 65 years of age or older.  The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 110.1 males.  For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.7 males.

The median income for a household in the township was $57,361, and the median income for a family was $66,875. Males had a median income of $43,696 versus $33,667 for females. The [[per capita income]] for the township was $23,269.  About 2.2% of families and 4.5% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 5.3% of those under age 18 and 3.9% of those age 65 or over.
