==History==
Platted in 1839 by Adam Moore and Andrew Stevens, it originally contained nine lots adjacent to Moore's gristmill. The racial makeup of the town was 97.8% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.2% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.2% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.7% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 1.2% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.3% of the population.

The racial makeup of the town was 97.32% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.47% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 1.10% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.47% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.63% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.10% of the population.

There were 218 households, out of which 50.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.3% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 19.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.9% were non-families. 12.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 4.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.91 and the average family size was 3.15.

In the town, the population was spread out, with 35.6% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 31.2% from 25 to 44, 18.1% from 45 to 64, and 7.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 29 years. For every 100 females, there were 93.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.2 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $38,295, and the median income for a family was $38,875. Males had a median income of $36,597 versus $20,875 for females.
