Resource Request

Fixing references and common medical problems!
Warning: for legal reasons, we must note that the Resource Exchange cannot fix any medical problems. But it can fix references.

Finding a source

Tips for finding a source yourself
  • Send a request to the author(s) of research papers for a copy of their paper by email.
  • Check what sources are available to you in The Wikipedia Library – editors active for at least six months with over 500 edits, at least 10 of them in the last month, and with no active blocks have immediate access to the Wikipedia Library Bundle.
    • Available databases in the bundle include: Gale, EBSCO, JSTOR, Oxford and ProQuest
  • Consider applying for access to additional Wikipedia Library sources at The Wikipedia Library Card Platform.
    • Additional databases include: Newspapers.com, NewspaperARCHIVE.com, Project MUSE and Taylor & Francis
  • Search for periodical titles in the Wikipedia Library database index at The Wikipedia Library/A–Z.
  • Check on Google Books, or your local library or national library may be able to obtain it through an interlibrary loan or subscription.
  • Search Google Scholar for archived copies of journals in institutional repositories.
  • Check whether your alma mater's library offers electronic document delivery services for alumni, if applicable.

Note that sites like Library Genesis (LibGen) and Sci-Hub offer direct, free access to a large range of publications, but there are legal questions around their use and neither the Wikimedia Foundation nor the Wikipedia community endorses them.

Making a request
  • A request may be an open question or you may ask for a specific journal, article or work.
  • All kinds of sources are possible here: newspapers, magazine article, databases, encyclopedias, court decisions, laws, books, etc.
  • We cannot perform full book copy requests due to copyright. Please ask for specific pages that relate to the article(s) you need them for.
  • You may contact research helpers directly or make a request on this page.
  • To receive email without disclosing your email address publicly, configure your email in Special:Preferences.
  • Provide as much detail as possible: a full citation with author, title, publisher, and date or identifiers like DOI, ISBN, ISSN, PMID, OCLC, etc.
  • Indicate which Wikipedia articles are being improved.
  • Once a request has been fulfilled add the {{Resolved}} template.
  • Filled requests are archived.
  • Requests unfilled after three months will be archived.

User:ClueBot III/ArchiveThis

Fulfilling a request

  • Anyone may offer advice and fulfill requests.
  • Indicate which part or parts of the request is being handled so others do not duplicate your work.
  • Notify (mention) the requester using {{ping|REQUESTER_USERNAME}}.
  • You can:
    • point to a pre-existing electronic document by giving its URL ( http://... )
    • share scans of pages or documents using a file-sharing service, provided it is legal
    • upload out of copyright works to Wikimedia Commons and/ or Wikisource (but be careful that this does not breach your own institution's policies)
    • email a link or plain text to a requester using the Special:EmailUser feature but for attachments, you need to ask them to mail you first so you can reply.

Copyright tips:

  • Respect copyrights and terms of services of any online services you use.
  • Share content in a limited manner that is targeted at as few individuals as possible to achieve a specific improvement on Wikipedia. All content is shared under a presumed non-commercial, educational, fair use purpose in order to conduct research about topics on Wikipedia and/or to improve Wikipedia content.
  • Share copies privately rather than with a publicly accessible link whenever possible. Copyrighted articles from print publications or copies obtained through online databases should not be uploaded for unrestricted distribution via open websites. Preferably, do not share login access codes for entire websites; rather, share only an individual copy of a resource.
  • Remember that you take on the individual risk when sharing content, and act in a way that is comfortable and safe for you. Individual editors are solely responsible for sharing copyrighted content and assume all legal risks.

Rodong Sinmun newspaper articles/ whole paper and Pyongyang Times

I would like to use the articles for List of trolleybus systems, Trams and trolleybuses in North Korea and individual city pages listed below. Dates are in yyyy/mm/dd. Finding these articles would be extremely helpful.

Rodong Sinmun 2013/05/25 page 4, in theory it should be on kcnawatch.org but I couldn't find it there, for Sangnong and Sangnong mine
Rodong Sinmun 2001/01/28 page 3 for Trolleybuses in Pyongyang
Rodong sinmun, 2002/02/12 page 1 for above
1995/03/30 page 1 for Sangwon
1995/09/06 page 1
1994/02/18 page 1 for Pyongyang Metro
1994/05/26 page 1 for Trams in Pyongyang and Tatra T6B5
1992/01/15 page 3
1990/09/18 page 1
1986/04/07 page 1 for Tanchon and Komdok mine
1989/05/11 page 1
1986/04/16 page 1 to verify for Chongjin trolleybuses
1985/12/10 page 1
1984/08/19 page 1
1983/08/12 page 3
1982/05/09 page 3
1981/08/04 page 1
1966/05/28 page 1 for Pyongyang trolleybuses article linked above
1964/01/02 page 2 for Pyongyang trolleybuses
1959/02/02 page 2 for history of Pyongyang trolleybuses

Furthermore, I am looking for the full paper on these days to verify existence/ opening dates of these trolleybus systems, to be used in the list, since many are missing dates and to check the unsure dates. Some trolleybus networks are dubious, and the presence in Rodong Sinmun would be good to prove their existence.

  • 24 and 25 August 1993 for Anju
  • 17 and 18 April 1992 for Kanggye
  • 17 March 1985 for Kimchaek
  • 4 and 5 August 1983 for Pyongsong

  • 12 and 13 October 1994 for Kapsan
  • 10 and 11 June 1993 for Unsan county

Need a ref to the date of founding of the Konbaung Dynasty

Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 10:12, 25 September 2021 (UTC)

You should file a FOIA request here for all your SERNAGEOMIN materials needed. Since they were created by the State of Chile, they should give them out to you for free. If you need help requesting it in Spanish, just ask. --Bedivere (talk) 23:35, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
@Bedivere: Are you sure? It seems like unlike say USGS SERNAGEOMIN is commercial. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:21, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
@Jo-Jo Eumerus: They appear to sell some materials and they may deny a request on such grounds, but so far I've been successful requesting books in physical format, not by Sernageomin but by other public agencies. They should provide them to you, at least those that are discontinued (out of print). I can help you out if you wish, so that you can request materials by the Chilean government agencies all by yourself in the future. Bedivere (talk) 18:08, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
Yes, please. I'm afraid though that many of these maps are recent enough to be in-print. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 19:55, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
I've requested the materials myself. Whenever I get a response (by next month, I think - 20 working days) I'll get back to you. --Bedivere (talk) 03:10, 2 November 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, Bedivere. Added another item on the list, by the way. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:05, 23 November 2021 (UTC)

Thanks, Worldbruce (talk) 21:32, 11 October 2021 (UTC)

@Worldbruce, it appears that the AfD you referred to is now closed. Would you still like access to the above material? Best, Tyrone Madera (talk) 22:53, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
@Tyrone Madera: The requested material would still be useful. The AfD was closed as a speedy keep on procedural grounds, but the article could be renominated at any time. It would be good to improve the article, if the book contains anything that could be used for the purpose. --Worldbruce (talk) 00:22, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

Need a Biography Section from "The Magic Pen of Joseph Clement Coll"

As I cannot find info about what's actually in the book, I am asking for just any section that deals with Coll's childhood.

Requesting articles for several Latin pop songs of 1998

I am requesting articles for several Latin pop songs that were hits in 1998. I will group songs from the same album together:

"Esperanza" / "Nunca Te Olvidaré by Enrique Iglesias
"Dejaría Todo" by Chayanne
"Corazon Partido" / "Amiga Mia" by Alejandro Sanz
"Clavado en un Bar"

Thanks, Erick (talk) 03:57, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

@Magiciandude: 20px Sent the ones I could easily find, which were all of the "Esperanza" ones, #3 for "Dejaría Todo", both of the "Corazon Partido" ones, and #1 and #2 for "Clavado en un Bar". DanCherek (talk) 22:10, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
@DanCherek: Thanks! The article for "Clavado en un Bar" with Mario Tarradell's review is missing a line from the ProQuest article: "the CD's lead single, is a propulsive, pop-punk track guaranteed to induce..." Erick (talk) 00:18, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
Sorry, I don't understand the question, or maybe I'm looking at a different ProQuest version than you? When I click on [1] I see an abstract that starts with "Suenos Liquidos recalls the pop-friendly sound..." and ends with "...acts languishing in obscurity." but doesn't contain the sentence you mentioned. DanCherek (talk) 02:28, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
@DanCherek: Could be the latter (a different version of the article). I found that sentence on when I was searching on ProQuest. See if that works. Erick (talk) 14:31, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I see it now. My guess is it's some kind of subheadline, but I don't know how to get the rest of it. DanCherek (talk) 14:43, 8 November 2021 (UTC)

@DanCherek: That's fine, I'll strike it down anyways. Let me get back to you to check on the other articles. Erick (talk) 00:39, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

@Magiciandude: I sent you some of these, although I fear all I did was partially or entirely duplicative of DanCherek's work. Can you strike out the requests you no longer need, to clarify what part of your request is still open? John M Baker (talk) 01:08, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

Scholarly book chapters on He-Man's gayness

For He-Man's article, to improve the "Queer analysis" section and further showcase the character's queer aspects. With the last source, I'm 90% sure that He-Man isn't mentioned anywhere else in the book. However, I'm not so sure about the first three sources. If anyone has access to the entirety of any of the first three books, please let me know if He-Man—in the context of his queer-coded nature, gay fanbase, and whatnot—is discussed anywhere else.

Thank you in advance for any requests fulfilled. PanagiotisZois (talk) 22:57, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

@Mdaniels5757: Thank you for the quick reply and going through the trouble of looking through other chapters for any mentions of He-Man. :D From what I read, neither chapter directly relates to the character's implied homosexuality, but I do believe I can still use them. Apparently, this Reagan guy that was president was very influential during the 1980s. PanagiotisZois (talk) 23:30, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

I have tried to see the article referred to in the scant French citations, in a magazine called Je Chante. It seems not to be available on line and I couldn’t find any help at the Bibliotheque Nationale de France. Does anyone know how I could access the article? The First Division 1809–1993, can anyone access this work and assist in a RFC and article improvement?

  • Wilson, P. (1993). The First Division 1809-1993: An Illustrated History (2nd ed.). Hereford, Germany: 1st Division. OCLC 29635235.

For:

According to the OCLC, the only copy is the British Library, London. Is anyone able to access this work, and if so, could they then provide any relevant information to the above mentioned RFC, and therefore able to also improve the above cited articles? The current RFC debate is if the modern 1st Division is linked to a variety of similar named formations that stretch back to 1809, or if the modern division should be considered a separate entity. Editors are keen to know what the division themselves, per the publisher info on the book, have to say on the subject: in 1993, when it was published, did they consider themselves to be the same formation from 1809 or a different one with the same name? When do they state they were formed?

There does not appear to be a copy available online, or a snippet version to view on Google. I understand that this is a bit of a big ask and outside the usual specific page requests, but appreciate any assistance so that we can plan next steps on how to improve the cited articles. Thanks, EnigmaMcmxc (talk) 14:56, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

Francisation de la langue nord-coréen/Frenchisation of the north korean language

For Romanisation du coréen: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanisation_du_cor%C3%A9en . Basically, in old North Korean postcards from the 70's to the 90's, the romanization used is a special kind that tried to use french orthography. I have never seen this anywhere else, the french wikipedia page on romanisation of the korean language for north korea is basically a carbon copy of the english page. If anyone knows any information about this romanisation system, then this would be heavily appreciated. All I can do for the time being is try to piece the rules back together by using individual documents and perhaps expand the french wikipedia page on this topic to include the curious "francisation" of korean used by the foreign languages publishing house.

For Marie Sophie Hingst. I can't access a copy of this edition, but I'm informed there are JSTOR snippets (no full text accessible to either my or the other party's level of JSTOR access) discussing her in it (...der tragische Fall der Historikerin und Bloggerin Marie Sophie Hingst, die in ihrer Familiengeschichte 22 vermeintliche Holocaust-Opfer entdeckte und in Yad Vashem angemeldet hat. Interested in any relevant pages, but not sure of the page numbers, hence the nonspecificity of the request. Note that the source is in German.

Thanks, Vaticidalprophet 08:12, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

Can you link to the JSTOR snippet please? Doc Taxon (talk) 13:46, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
I'm the unnamed other party here. If you search "Marie Sophie Hingst" on JSTOR it's the only thing that comes up ([16]). You have to make sure your preferences show all search results, not just ones you can access, otherwise it'll say there's no results. My hit says the chapter is called "Jüdisches Unbehagen" and it should be pp. 204-216 (unfortunately as I can't access the chapter there's no way to see the precise page number). ♠PMC(talk) 21:15, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
Google Books is giving me a preview of this chapter: you might try this link, although different people seem to have wildly different results with Google Books based on their locations. It seems to me that there's just one paragraph discussing Hingst (though I don't read German, so take my assessment with a grain of salt), which I've tried to transcribe (without diacritics etc.) below. Cheers, Extraordinary Writ (talk) 21:37, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
The preview appeared for me once, but not since -- Google Books is cruelly inconsistent. Doc Taxon, are you able to access the chapter? Vaticidalprophet 10:18, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
