Weston House, George Weston (lawyer)
- ( Back to T:TDYK )

- George Weston (lawyer) )
... that the former heritage-registered Weston House (pictured) was designed by architect Cecil Wood for prominent Christchurch lawyer George Weston?
- Source 1: This substantial two-storeyed brick house was built for George T Weston, a Christchurch solicitor, around 1923. It was designed by Cecil Wood (1878-1947) and further on in the same source "Registration Type: Historic Place Category 1"
- Source 2: Obituary: Mr George Thorngate Weston, a distinguished Christchurch lawyer, died suddenly...; I used "prominent" as opposed to "distinguished" because it sounds more neutral to me but am happy to go with the exact word if desired.

- ALT1 ... that the heritage-registered Weston House (pictured), designed by architect Cecil Wood for George Weston, was damaged in a series of earthquakes in Christchurch and demolished in July 2011?
- Comment: Weston House is new; George Weston (lawyer) is newly expanded; I've included Cecil Wood in the hook as a wikilink and intend to expand that article, too (might take two or three days). The word "former" in ALT0 is explained in the caption through the note "since demolished"; not sure if this hook works like this without the caption.

Schwede66 Hi! The article is long enough, neutral, well-cited, and with [no copyvio] detected, QPQ done. Nomination is on time. (The article was created on January 26th). And the picture is also good. The hook is formatted, of good length, and cited in the article, but not particularly interesting. It would be better if we could improve it. - @Schwede66: I'm also wondering if it would be better for Weston House to have a separate hook instead. Looking through the article I thought it was more interesting that it was damaged from multiple earthquakes, or that it was demolished despite being heritage-registered, than it being designed for a lawyer. I also took a look at Weston's article to see if there was any info that could be used for a solo hook but I'm coming up empty so far. - Ok, I've expanded the architect sufficiently that it meets the five times expansion rule, but that article is nowhere near finished yet. There's a whole PhD thesis to work through; a brilliant source. I've provided ALT1 that references the earthquakes and the demolition as suggested; this allowed me to simplify the photo caption. Further hook suggestions are most welcome. QPQ for the architect is to follow.

- Thank you. RAJIVVASUDEV Can you please give the new hook a look? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:33, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- I suggest you proceed slowly as I'll have significant content to add to the architect. Would be good to have that done before it hits the mainpage. Schwede66 02:12, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hi! @Narutolovehinata5: Let's wait and hold it until as per the nominator's request. Thanks RV (talk) 02:44, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
